Probably even better is a shutdown and cold restart. When a driver gets
hosed, there is sometimes a bad ring buffer pointer that doesn't get
re-initialized by a reboot. Also worth checking all the cable connections
etc. This does not sound like a K3 problem, but rather a problem with a
driver, a cable or the serial adapter itself.
