Hope this aren't stupid suggestions, but just in case; check....
* that the SUB is actually on - SPLIT doesn't turn the SUB on - you
must see the SUB indicator on the display
* SUB RF gain is turned up
* SUB AF gain is turned up
* Sub-RX antenna selection
