Over the years I've owned nearly a dozen ham rigs. I ALWAYS begin by
studying the manual. As a result, I have nearly always found them easy
to use and understand. The exceptions have been a fewf products that
provided lots of functions that few hams need, not enough buttons to
access them, and a menu structure that not even the programmers' mother
could love. The Yaesu FT100D and FT8800, and a couple of ICOM talkies
fall into this category.
The K3 is VERY easy to use if you simply STUDY the manual so that you
understand the radio. All the functions you are likely to need on a day
to day basis are provided by front panel knobs and buttons that are
clearly labeled. While the menu system is extensive, it simply allows
SETUP and TWEAKING of the radio for the way you want to use it, and for
the accessories that you want to use with it. Once you've done that,
it's rarely necessary to use them unless you want to change those
accessories or the way the radio works.
