Good Evening,
Both nets went quite well today. I had my gain controls down
because reception was so easy. Working El Salvador is a case in point.
Very good copy into Oregon. The active sun is finally making a large
difference in the bands. We also have the added advantage of the
seasonal change.
Weather reports were of a cooler nature for the most part. John in
Colorado did mention a 90 degree day there and Brian had warmer
temperatures with some sun. Reports of a killing frost in Minnesota had
Scott pulling plants this week. I have not heard from my brother lately
so he is most likely busy at the very same task.

It was fun to be able to hear folks so well. I hope these
conditions continue as we go through the wet winter season. Now that
this end of the house is on the air again I'll make sure to check on 20
and 40 meters every now and then. I need an extension cable for my
paddles though. The rig is thirty inches above this desk. But it is
mostly for monitoring HF and doing some ARES stuff on VHF/UHF. It will
take a lot of practice to not just look at the microphone and wait for
my callsign to come out. I so rarely say anything outloud while on the
air it is tough to use one of those fancy things. Luckily I can write
and monitor as normal. The Internet is accessible while monitoring
too. The K3 could fit here but there is no window to watch the wildlife
as I work stations.
Until next week stay well,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
