Good Evening,
I have a fitting bit of video queued on the other computer waiting for
me to finish this. Dr. Who is lying in a boat shaped rather like a small
Viking craft. Quite apt because they are lighting him on fire and pushing
him into the lake. He is dead. But Time Lords don't die; they
regenerate. So I must wait to find out what is going on. Maybe Wayne has
finally designed a TARDIS into one of his creations. I keep asking but he
keeps putting me off. Is now the time?
The twenty meter net was filled with decent signals but also a lot of
QRN and fading. Then, about 3/4 of the way through the net, the
propagation changed. N0AR called a CQ from Minnesota but had no luck.
His first bounce must not have landed in North America. Thanks for the
attempt Scott. However, I did get a relay from Mike of a much closer
station: K6PJV. I could hear him but only at ESP levels. Thanks Mike!
On to the lists =>
On 14050 kHz at 2200z:
W0CZ - Ken - ND - K3 - 457
KN5L - John - TX - K2 - 7212
N0AR - Scott - MN - K2 - 4866
W0RSR - Mike - CO - K2 - 5767
K6PJV - Dale - CA - K3 - 1183
VE8RT - Ron - NWT - K2 - 7176
AA1V - Don - MA
On 7044.5 kHz at 0100z:
K0DTJ - Brian - CA - K3 - 4113
K6PJV - Dale - CA - K3 - 1183
N6MA - William - CA
The forty meter net was tougher. First Brian comes along and blows me
out of my chair. Then Dale comes in a bit quieter. That may have been
from my reflex conditioning of turning down the RF gain but it also may
have been from a little deafness caused by K0DTJ's monster signal from
foggy California. While conversing with Dale a contest started right on
top of us. A very unusual contest because they appeared not to be able to
hear me at all. Either during my response to them or in response to my
CQ. Oh well, it did make life much tougher. I did think N6MA was
responding. His message fit with my question as did his timing but then
he went away. However, since he did get his call copied and he made even
a partial effort he is logged QNI to the net. My rules of engagement are
not very strict you see :)
Until next week stay well,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
