[Elecraft] line out question

That works very well. I go from the Spkr jack to a Radio Shack amplifier
that goes to two stereo speakers mounted on the wall and pointed at me.
Wonderful audio. I've done this with all my radios for over 10 years.

If you must use Line Out ...
Rather than a mod to the K3, May I suggest you build a special cable.
At the K3 end connect a stereo plug, but with both conductors connected to
the tip - the shield still goes to the shell.
Alternately, connect to the Speaker Output jack instead of Line Out and you
can have the AFX effects available. With no subRX, the audio is routed to
both the left and right channels of the SPKR output is you have Speakers = 2
set in the menu.
