[Elecraft] OT Quality UHF Connectors

Jim is correct.  I also use only  Amphenol  PL-259 type connectors, and 
buy them in 100 or 200 lots.   I use the "astro-plate"  version, which 
take solder easily, and is a bit less expensive than the "full silver 
plate" version.  (The center pin is still silver plated).  I think the 
part number ends in, or at least includes, the number 1050.     Last 
time I purchased some, I think I got them from Mouser.  Believe it or 
not, if you haggle (in  friendly way)  with the sales-lady on the phone 
sometimes you can get a significantly better price than what is shown in 
the catalog. 


I have NEVER had a failure with an Amphenol connector.  I cannot say the 
same for the import types.  This is one instance where you get what you 
pay for.   As you can tell from the quantities that I use,  that 
represents lots of connections.
