Alan,

I don't understand why you have to disconnect the P3.  The P3 has a 
"pass-thru" RS-232 connector.  Have you tried connecting the PC to the 
RS-232 connector marked PC on the P3?

If DX Lab interferes with the P3 to K3 communication, that may cause 
problems, but for most applications, that connection works just fine.
