Interesting comments on 43-foot verticals.  FYI my inverted-L has a 
43-foot vertical leg and 130-foot horizontal leg.  43-feet is 
accidental as it was the longest dimension that would fit on my eme 
tower and still have the horizontal wires below the 2m antennas when 
they are elevated.  The antenna is primarily for running on 600m 
(500-KHz) where it is very short and inefficient (ERP=4.15w with 100w 
output from the transmitter).  A full--size quarter-wave vertical is 930-foot!

My inv-L uses a large base loading coil, tapped to match 50-ohm coax 
and I use four ferrite slide-on cores as RF chokes (probably not 
enough) for the 100-foot+ RG-213 run to the shack.  I am using four 
radials on the ground that can be rolled up for mowing in 
summer.   Three of the radials are 2-foot wide runs of ordinary 
chicken wire fencing and vary between 70 and 50 foot long.  The 
fourth radial is the shield of my 1-5/8 inch Heliax transmission line 
(for 2m QRO) which is 120-foot long and grounded at both ends.

I have not determined tap points for 160 and 80m, but intend to do 
that.  The antenna ought to work nice on those bands.  I have a Drake 
MN2000 tuner in the shack to trim up the match, if needed.
