Good Evening,
Twenty meters was very nice today. Twelve checkins over a period of
about 40 minutes. Much nicer than last week's skunk :) Most of the
signals were quite strong while a few of the eastern stations had some
QSB. Some of the southern stations had fast and slow QSB which made life
a little interesting. But hearing folks is much nicer than calling CQ
while reading a magazine!
Weather reports for the most part were much warmer. Only Brian down in
California came close to my 55 degrees. I just went for a short walk and
there was a warm breeze off the coast. Not warm enough to put out the
fire but it is better than the rain and 45 degree nights I have had
lately. Last night I had a mosquito flying around the keyboard but it was
not very aggressive so it is warm enough for them.

Thank you for the fun nets. I enjoyed hearing from you all. It was
very nice to hear improvement in twenty meters. Forty meters was about
the same as last week since it would not get over the Rockies as it has
many times in the past. But with the days beginning to shorten I expect
it will get back to better propagation at net time soon. It is noticeably
moving southward at each sunset. The flowers have also changed to the
orange and purple hues of mid-summer. While I was out walking just now I
heard a mourning dove. His call was not what I had grown accustomed to
when I grew up in Wisconsin. Not enough beats on the end. I wonder how
much variation there is in bird calls over their normal range?
    Until next week stay well,
       73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
