[Elecraft] K3 Forcing a Firmware Download

  Chris,

What happens when you instruct K3 Utility to "Test Communications" - 
click on the "Port" tab to get to the proper screen.

Test Communications greyed out?  That says either the port selected does 
not exist, has its cable unplugged, or communications with the K3 cannot 
be established (the latter may be a K3 fault).

If that is the condition you have, it must be fixed first before you can 
proceed.
If you have substantiated that the computer serial port is OK, then you 
can conclude the K3 is at fault and an email to K3support at elecraft.com 
is in order.
