[Elecraft] k2 clicking

John, that's more evidence that it's the forward and reverse power detection diodes in the KPA100 that failed since when you remove it the power detection function is handled by a separate diode detector in the base K2.
The base K2 doesn't have a full forward/reverse power detection circuit to calculate SWR. It uses a simpler diode detector to only measure the output power at the antenna connector and reports the power assuming a 50 ohm non-reactive load. The detector output tells the K2 when it is producing the power requested by the POWER control.

k2 by itself transmit fine, when hooked just to kat100 without kpa 100 it
goes hi current during transmit no matter 2 watts or 15 watts.
