So you are saying that AGM technology has caught up with and surpassed Gel
Cells. That wouldn't be the first time I was caught not paying attention to
technology.
The AGM is easier than the Gel Cell to charge too.
And it's funny that Elecraft has (apparently) gotten caught equating AGM and
Gel Cell technology, HI!

Ron,
I think you have the features of the gel cell and AGM batteries reversed.
The AGM is better in virtually every way, and the AGM has almost completely
taken over the SLA market from the older gel cell technology.
The Elecraft web site says that the K2 battery is a gel cell, but that is
not correct. According to PowerSonic, the PS-1229 is an AGM. A recent data
sheet (2011) from PowerSonic notes under Features:
Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) technology for superior performance
The PS-1229 is what shipped with my K2. Perhaps at one time that model of
battery was a gel cell, but no longer.
