  Richard,

For getting mild scratches out of most plastics, try wetting a smooth 
cloth with a thin oil, then rub, and rub, and rub.  The small amount of 
heat developed by the rubbing will clear small scratches in the 
plastic.  For deeper gouges, I am afraid replacement is the only cure I 
know of.
