[Elecraft] Putting a balun, BL2, within a K2 having a KAT2 and internal battery.

Years ago I recall someone reporting here they had mounted a balun inside
the top cover, I believe either in the space for the KAT2 or the KBT2, and
using the transverter connector holes for binding posts to their open wire
line.

Be careful about the sort of binding posts you use though. Nylon is not
necessarily a good RF insulator. It's hygroscopic so I suspect that has a
lot to do with the humidity in your area. I've actually had a nylon binding
post mounted in a metal panel melt running less than 20 watts with a
homebrew rig. It was at a voltage "loop" to be sure, but still a big
surprise. Since then whenever I use common "banana plug" type binding posts,
I mount them on a panel of know good RF insulation and mount that panel on
whatever metal enclosure is involved.

-----Original Message-----

Has anyone tried putting a BL2 balun inside a K2?

I have a K2 (#4913) with KAT2, KBT2, K60XV, KDSP2, K160RX, and KSB2.
Have removed the previous KIO2.

Looks like it could fit if the KBT2 is removed.
