[Elecraft] FW: FW: K3: KPA500 on a generator?

David,
None of the generators I have used with various bits of kit have been 'sine wave' type generators except for one.
All seemed to operate fine with no issues, in fact the linear supplies seem to perform better than the switch mode supplies and as the KPA500 uses a linear power supply I would expect it to be no different.
The SMPS's seemed to work fine but they did tend to draw more current than when on mains voltage to keep their output voltage correct.
As a result the SMPS's loaded the genset up a bit more than the linear supplies did.
Thats my experience at least, YMMV.

Thanks Brendan and Jeff with good advice, I've done this myself and it works
  well.
However, small generators I have seen do not produce mains-quality sinewave
output: it's more triangular and I just want to know if Elecraft are happy
with their kit running on this sort of supply which is also varying in
voltage and frequency. I can think of several mechanisms to stress a psu.
