Hi, Fred. Please try the instructions in K3 Utility Help, Troubleshooting
MCU load failure.  It has a step by step to get through this.

I presume you're using a straight cable, not through something like a
microHAM router, right?

Well I got the K3 into a weird state and can't load the firmware.
Follow directions in K3 Utility help to force firmware load and subsequently
get this message:
MCU firmware file hmcu0414.hex verified
K3 MCU Bootstrap Loader did not echo "D"
Remove K3 power and retry firmware load
Error code xE2000011, Bootstrap Loader did not echo a D MCU firmware load
failed Click "Close" to close this window
