Check to see whether both VFOs were not only in the same band, but also 
in the same mode. Cross-mode split between certain pairs of modes, 
evidently including between DATA modes and other modes, is not 
supported. See the information note near the bottom of the left column 
on p.15 of the manual (rev. D9).
