[Elecraft] Upconverter?

Bob,
I have to admit that I have not tested it, yet.
From the Mini-Circuits spec. sheet the LO drive is +7dBm which is
easily produced by most OCXO. Max RF output is +1 dBm with 8-dB
conversion loss so one will need some gain ahead of it if used in a
receiving up-converter. The K3 can generate +1.5mw in TEST mode so
adding a buffer (2N706 or 2N2222) will suffice for transmitting.
A good two-stage preamp with >30-dB gain should be used for an Rx
upconverter. My noise floor runs about -115dBm so that plus 30-dB
gain offers a signal = -85 -8 = -93 dBm which should be good for most
receivers (no problem for the K3)..

they work great, dont they
how much L O drive ?
i understand DBM like a lot of drive
my rcv set up was a bit light for LO but have very good signal handling
ability
and I see no overload CDX using it
