[Elecraft] control knobs lously

Unfortunately, yes, Thomas. Laptops are not very immune from RF, especially
things like touchpads.

OF course, in Susan's case, if it happens in receive, there is no RF being
generated unless there is another source of RF nearby. Susan, is your radar
on or off? Any other emitters nearby?

I've had problems on large ships with erratic electronics when they were
docked close to a powerful broadcast antennas.

Is there somewhere away from your boat you can fire up the K3 and see if it
still misbehaves? Since it happens in receive, does it continue when you
disconnect your antenna and everything else except dc power?

I don't think I have very much RF in the shack, but the little I do have is
enough to make the touch pad on my laptop completely erratic - no other ill
effects observed, is this a common thing? It happens on virtually all
bands/modes, but of course especially noticable on PSK31 and similar when
you tend to use the laptop while transmitting.

Does this only happen when the rig is keyed, or does it also happen when
you adjust pwr when K3 is in RX mode. If it ONLY happens when you adjust
AND rig is TX, be sure you aren't suffering from RF in the shack. RF in
the shack often presents as something totally weird, that doesn't seem to
make any sense.
