We had a successful Top Band Spring, in terms of participation, this past
Thursday, 1 December, and now looking forward to a relaxed
contest/event.......the Holiday Spirits Homebrew Sprint! It's a four hour
contest for home constructors and kit builders and runs from 2000Z to 2359Z
on Sunday 18th December 2011.
It's a fun CW contest to encourage homebrewers to get on the air with some
added incentives in the form of 5000 bonus points per band if using a
homemade (including kit) transceiver - if you are operating a Home Brew
Transmitter only, add 2000 points per band; if you're operating a Home Brew
Receiver only, add 3000 points per band.
Additionally, to encourage more portable operations - not quite "the same"
as operating a Home Brew rig BUT to encourage more participation - if you
are "out in the field" you can garner 5000 points for putting up with the
colder temps!
Go here - www.qrparci.org for all of the details (the Holiday Spirits Home
Brew Sprint is "above the fold" until the contest kicks off) and be certain
to read the "rules" regarding what constitutes "home brew" - see the Bonus
Points section under Paragraph H!
Lookin' forward to seeing many participants and log entries. This is more a
fun event than an actual contest albeit, you can garner a seriously nice
lookin' certificate if you choose to enter the event! Categories entries
run the gamut from All-Band (AB), Single Band (SB-160, 80, 40, 20, 15 or
10), High Bands, HB, (10m, 15m and 20m) or Low Bands, LB (40m, 80m and
160m). Personally, I think the Single Band, SB, categories are where
certificates can be garnered more easily than in the other categories.
If you have any questions please contact the Contest Manger at
contests at qrparci.org
Lookink' forward to hearing and working you during this fun event -
constructors should be interested in operating during this event as it gives
you an opportunity to show off your accomplishments AND meet other
like-minded operators.
