[Elecraft] K3 Auto antenna switching

Guy,

Thanks for your questions - you are giving me ideas about how to
reconfigure and automate my antenna switching to take advantage of both
ANT1 and ANT2. Right now, I use only a single connector on the KAT3,
and have given up on automating the band selection for now, so I operate
manual switches. I have 4 HF and 6 meter coax lines coming into the
shack, and one of those comes from a remote 6 position antenna relay.

Of course, my situation is a bit unique because once in the shack, I
switch those 4 antenna feedlines among 3 transceivers. The K2 gets
priority, the FT-847 is second priority and the 3rd transceiver can take
whichever feedlines that are not being used by the other 2. An
advantage of my arrangement is that when no feedline is selected (or
relay power is off), the K3 and the FT-847 are connected to a dummy load
(the 3rd transceiver operator has to remember to switch to a dummy load
manually.

On some bands (80, 40 and 20) , I have 3 antennas either up now or in my
antenna plan, so that is why I have chosen the manual switching -
automating it with only ANT1 or ANT2 was not sufficient, I have to
figure out how to handle that. The ACC outputs from the KRC2 may be the
answer, but selecting the correct ACC output is still a manual operation.

73,
Don W3FPR
