It took them a long time to finally get their 40th zone, which ironically
was Zone 34, the zone in which they are located. The regulars in that zone
are ST2AR and SU9VB, but for whatever reason neither one has worked ST0R.
They have a single call in the log from 34, SU1SK.
In the most recent QST, the editorial was devoted to trying to figure out
how many hams there are in the world. The figures are soft, because not all
countries furnish data, but their estimate was that there may be about 2
million licensed stations, with a somewhat larger number of individual hams.
Of these, a substantial number are VHF-only licenses. As of this morning,
ST0R has worked 27,000+ different calls. This may provide a rough count of
the number of hams who care about DX, since it's a new one for everybody.
Comparing this to the total, one might conclude that fewer than 2% of hams
are DX chasers. Note that the number of QSOs is 6.5x the number of calls
worked! Guys are working them on many bands/modes.
