Hi Mark (and group),
If you think signing for a package is a hassle, just try filing a claim for lost one. I had a package (containing one xtal filter) taken off my porch about 15 years ago. Didn't realize that it was missing till I contacted the vendor asking about the long delivery. Even though the value was just under $100, the claim became a prolonged battle among vendor, UPS and me. It took about 5 months till the vendor was finally paid by UPS. Only then would they ship a second filter. All this time the vendor had my money; I had paid by check.
Since then, I've had valuable packages sent to my office. If your employer won't allow personal deliveries, a business near your home (one where your have a regular relationship) might accept and sign for your packages. My neighborhood animal hospital does this for several customers.
The irony of my lost filter? I found it about 9 months later while doing some landscape work. Someone (kids?) had stuffed the package into a Yew bush about 20 feet from my front door. The bush was dense, the package small and it would have stayed there forever if I hadn't done major trimming.

can't believe that Elecraft is sending my K3 requiring a signature! How do
hey expect a working person to be at home when UPS delivers to get a
ignature??? When I ordered the rig over the phone nobody told me that this is
he way they ship. And to boot, I would have to drive over one hour to a UPS
elivery center to pick up the radio. I certainly hope they will call me
omorrow and straighten this whole mess out. This certainly does not give me a
ood impression about the company. Just venting!!!! Mark KB3Z
