Good Evening,
My forecast lately has been filled with dire predictions of deep snow.
No, this has not happened. When I last checked the snow depth it was
around 1/4 inch. This morning I awoke to whumping noises on my roof. The
fir trees had gotten the the critical point where load and temperature and
moisture level all agreed it was time to slip off and wake up Kevin.
After the whumping of fir trees in the local clear cut these small whumps
upon my roof were simply a counterpoint on my normal morning sounds. J.
S. Bach or an ancient arhu composer may have written these rhythms
accompanied by illustrations by Hiroshige. Simple, peaceful, natural way
to awaken to a new day.
Propagation on twenty meters during the morning hours has been very,
very good during the last week. The sun is active but at a low level at
this point. After the last few years any solar activity has been big
deal. Being able to hear across the continent is good but hearing into
Africa, Asia, and Europe are even better. As this solar cycle picks up it
will be fun to work the world on ten meters. I've yet to make my first
contact on that band but mostly it is due to lack of available time during
its daylight openings. Soon, though, I will accost some amateur across
either ocean. Then, once my feet are wet I may try again and again. You
have been warned :)
Please join us tomorrow afternoon and evening.
