I received my Yamaha CM500 headset from BH Photo about 2 weeks ago, and they
are great. I just shipped my old Heil Pro Set 5 to a new owner today. The
Yamaha is just better, at least with the K3.

I have read many times how good the Sennheiser HD280 headphones work with
the K3, and happened to see a used pair in a local shop. I offered them $50,
and they took it. :>)

First of all, the noise attenuation with the HD280 is quite a bit better,
but they are tighter on your head, so not quite as comfortable as the
Yamaha. But still pretty comfortable, and not like a David Clark head clamp.

The sound quality is very good. On sideband the difference isn't great, but
the HD280 has a bit crisper sound.

On CW I notice quite a difference. The tone is much more focused, and they
don't need as much drive volume.

Both phones are very good, and in that the CM500 has the boom mic, it is
perfect for phone. For weak signal CW, the HD280 does have an edge in tone.
Beyond that, with the HD280, I can turn the RF Gain way down, and still have
enough volume control to drive them.

I think I will keep both of them, and I'm only out $25 over what I sold the
Heil for. :>)
