[Elecraft] USB to serial angst

Full Ethernet capability - including working directly as a network
device - is in the future. Full Ethernet capability reuires more than
just an Ethernet to serial converter. If the Ethernet connectio is
nothing more than an Ethernet to serial converter, then why not stay
with straight serial port point to point communications. The addressing
capability from a network is the advantage of Ethernet - the data to the
device cnn be the same.

So show me an Ethernet to serial converter that can live at a device
location without the need for a computer at the device end and I will
concede. A plain Ethernet to serial converter is not that sophisticated
(unless someone has found one that I have not looked at, or the price
for the embedded copmuter is excessive).
