[Elecraft] USB to serial angst - linux?

On a related topic, can anyone recommend a multiport (4 or more)
usb-serial that works without issue on linux?

The kernel documentation for usb-serial is in the kernel tree at
Documentation/usb/usb-serial.txt with recommendations, but it's always
nice to hear first hand success stories.
