Good Evening,
The twenty meter net was a lot of fun. The band was strong with some QSB and there was a small pile up I had to dig through. The forty meter net was not similar except for the presence of some QSB. The furthest station heard was in Colorado which does not seem all that far when I can normally reach beyond the Mississippi. But it was fun none the less.
Weather reports were cooler than they had been with some rain and even a few chilly readings. However when Palmer, Alaska is warmer than Buxton, Oregon something is awry ;) It was warm yesterday; warm enough to where I had all the windows open and could only work in the direct sun for a few hours. The forecast was for two days of this but that did not happen. The rest of the week will be cool but sunny.

You may have noticed Fred changed rigs between nets. He also dropped his power down too. Thank you! Your signal was much easier to copy at the lower level. Digging for weak signals only to be hit with an S9 station is disconcerting at best and painful at worst. Often the very strongest stations are rather difficult to copy due to overload. Backing off to ten watts or less would do wonders to their signal.
Gradually this computer is getting back into shape. Little by little software is getting reloaded. Yesterday I had a visit by an installer. I now have a dish antenna on my roof and great Internet connectivity. 5 megabit/s download speed is pretty nice compared to my previous 40 kbit/s. I can now broaden my web experience ;) Today I downloaded ALL of the Solder Smoke podcasts. I would never have dreamed of doing that previously. In my spare moments (?) I can listen to them. Today I got to hear Don Wilhelm! I expect I will hear more of you as I work through these recordings.
Until next week stay well,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
