  G'day Ian,
  I don't know about the Javornik transverter but the Elecraft K144XV internal transverter is fantastic.
  I am hearing signals now that my old FT847 could never hear due to its front end being as wide as a barn door and it getting nailed by Plasma TV's.  

  The K144XV works for me! :)
