Good Evening,
It has been quite a while since twenty meters has sounded so good. For the first ten minutes I each call up was followed by a single toner instead of characters. I could only copy the folks at the end and then only a character or two. I may need to reinstitute some method of thinning out the group. Call by region or call area so I can limit the single tone interval. It was nice to work some DX too. Honduras was quite strong.
Forty meters was also good though QRM was a problem. Toward the end the malicious interference was almost continuous. But a good number of check ins were worked through it. Dale normally blasts me out on 40 m but today he turned the power knob to 10 watts with little loss of signal. The pain level was lower though ;) I am pretty sure he was the reason AGC was invented! I had a couple good contacts in Washington which is not normal for me. Roger lives just behind the mountain I live on while Dean in Kalama is not very far away either. MUF must be going higher due to the more active sun.

Weather reports from all over were for rain but warmer temperatures. Seems like the grip of winter has loosened just a bit. Ken did say there was an ice storm in progress but then mentioned the temperature would drop later. Hopefully he only gets a little ice and then starts to receive the more normal snowfall. Where I had been having sun and dry weather today it turned to rain again. The next storm has come in from the ocean and covered the West Coast. California is having its reservoirs refilled but in a most abundant fashion. I am not sure LA enjoys the deluge. Only an Oregonian would find that normal ;)
Until next week I hope all will be well across the continent.
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
