Good Evening,
The bands were good tonight. It was mentioned to me that the turn out today may be lighter than normal since there is some game going on. Hmmm... turn out was pretty good even with that little game. Geaux Saints :) The was some QSB; at times of two different types: slow and fluttery. Two DX check ins were good. Very strong signal from Honduras. Maybe the sun is having an effect on improving propagation. I know there is a CME on the way due to smack the Earth soon. I just checked Space Weather. Looks like the solar wind is kicking up some aurora. There is also a rapidly growing sun spot group which may produce a flare. However, if it doesn't happen soon it will miss the Earth.
I know an article will be written about Pete Hoover, W6ZH - SK in QST. Maybe we should send them a few anecdotes about how we interacted with him over the many years he was involved with amateur radio. I surely hope they include what his grandfather did while acting as the Commerce Secretary when he saved amateur radio. Forever afterward the name Hoover and amateur radio have been tied closely together. Pete, you will be missed very much. Your fist, your wit, your kindness will be remembered fondly. My condolences to your family and most especially to your charming wife Meredith.

If there are any errors in the above lists please email them to me so I can fix the database. I am glad to hear so many folks today. It was nice. Weather here was odd (but in a way odd weather is normal in Oregon!) the sun was shining to the west over the Pacific Ocean but the clouds came and went over this mountain all day. Rain, sun, rain, sun, over and over. The temperatures are in the high 40s though. Compared to what I was hearing from all of you it sounds warm indeed. Ken told me it had dropped to 4 degrees F during his 40 meter check in. That with all the snow and wind it is truly winter in North Dakota. I asked Ray for his temperature in Honduras but QRM got in the way. Pete always used to tell me his weather. I could hear him chuckle as he sent it :)
Until next week stay warm and stay well,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
