I live in a VHF desert and can usually hear nothing at all but when a
contest is on and the portables take to the Dumfries and Galloway hills
which are line of sight across the water their signals are MASSIVE. The only
time I have ever seen the K3 S-meter reading "end-stop" is on 2m. I can work
these guys using 2.5W to rubber duck on an FT-817 standing on the shack
desk.
So I think IP3 is very important on VHF.
