[Elecraft] Data A filter questions

Hi Wes,

Here in TX DATA mode DATA A I have full range of Shift: FC
400-2600Hz Width: 50-4000Hz

The LO and HI limits vary with BW but basically as much as you want.

I regularly set the BW to 150Hz and SHIFT slowly up the band working
stations as they appear on the waterfall.

Regards,

Mike VP8NO

Subject: [Elecraft] Data A filter questions

I don't do much PSK operation but I was just fiddling with it and
noted something puzzling (to me anyway).

Data mode A, although basically a USB mode, defaults to CW-like
filtering. The "NORM" setting is 400 Hz (my CW filter width, I
guess), "Shift" is 1.5 KHz (and very limited) and "LO" and "HI" are
locked out. Considering how much PSK operation is done, this is
quite limiting.

Is there some compelling reason that I'm overlooking why the default
for this mode shouldn't be the same as SSB, with the options to have
both SHIFT/WIDTH and HI and LO CUT?
