You can reduce the bandwidth by cutting lows and/or highs with TX EQ. The K3 firmware expects a 2.7 to 2.8 kHz Tx filter, and will probably display an ERR TXF error if you select another.
Your overall objective is fine, I do this by cutting the bottom two audio TX EQ bands to their lowest value. These bands don't help intelligibility of my voice, but they do pick up the fan in my tube amp.
