To add to the collective RFI intelligence of the group: I identified yet another
source of RFI this evening.
Cross off the Uniden DECT3080 cordless phone off your Christmas shopping lists.
When the handset is placed back into the cradle (the "base" unit) it emits a
noise burst on 80 meters. The noise is very wideband (audible at least 3.2 - 4.0
MHz, peak at 3.59 MHz) and is at least 12 dB above the noise floor.
The noise bursts are about a tenth of a second long and occur precisely every 7
seconds, and then again at the beginning of the minute. So there would be a
burst at 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, and 0 seconds, and this timing is
remarkably stable and accurate and will not drift even after days. Note that
there is only a 4-second gap between the last two bursts.
Hope this helps someone else out there.
