[Elecraft] K1 and buddistick

I assume you know there's nothing "magic" about any antenna design. The
fundamental laws known since Maxwell's time have not changed (no matter what
the advertising hype of some antenna manufacturers suggest).

So a buddystick will work exactly as well as a hunk of wire in the same
location. If you can make the wire longer or get it higher it'll outperform
the buddystick.

What the buddystick (and buddypole) offer is *convenience* - and that can be
worth every dime of their cost if it's necessary to you.

My friends who have the products say they are very well made with quality
components and well-packaged.

The support is invaluable where there is no way to hold the antenna up off
of the ground (note the Buddi-ads show the antennas used on a beach or on a
mountain above the tree line).

So the decision is whether you are okay with using a minimalist antenna and,
if so, you want to pay the extra money for the convenience of having it
pre-packaged for you.

Hello all
My family is going to stay at a house in corolla n.c. for a week. I have a
K1 with atu and stand, but not the right antenna. Anyone have experience
with the buddistick? I only use 20 and 40 meters.

Thanks
