Minimize the other stuff and search with Adobe "Find" box.  This is the only
way to go as a printed index will never be as comprehensive as a full
document search, not to mention possibly being out of date.  

BTW no problem here with the P3 Rev. A3 manual using the latest Acrobat
Reader 9.3.3.
