[Elecraft] K3 Macros

I want to thank everyone for the helpful posts regarding macros. It motivated me to
try a few and, without too much effort - and with the "K3 Programmer's Reference"
open in a window on the desktop for frequent reference - I was able to get a few
programmed into my rig too! Nothing fancy, but some things that I will definitely
use here ;-) I will share these examples in the hope that they will help ease the
process for others who are hesitating taking the plunge.

I always thought one of the neat things about the K3 was the ability to call a SSB
station with CW. Unfortunately, this option is only available when you operate VOX,
and I key my K3 with a sequencer triggered by a footswitch. So I thought that would
be a good starting point for my first macro. I put this first macro into button PF1.
  It puts the VFO B into CW REV mode, and moves that VFO up 1 kHz from VFO A (so the
SSB station will hear something), and puts the K3 into split operation:

SWT13;SWT11;MD7;SWT11;UPB4;FT1;RT0;XT0;

To undo the split operation and move VFO B back down onto the same frequency and
mode, I put this macro into PF2:

FT0;RT0;XT0;LN0;SQ000;SWT13;

Since I operate mostly 6m, and usually call CQ on the calling frequency of 50.125 and
then move off up the band to listen for callers, I put this macro into button M1. It
simply sets VFO B to 50.190 so I can easily tap A/B switch after calling CQ on 50.125:

SWT13;FB00050190000;

MNI TNX to the Elecraft team for making such a powerful and flexible rig! And that
is one reason I got it over a year ago - because it could be tailored to so many
different situations. Like many K3 users, I have not delved very deeply into the
(almost overwhelming) myriad of available functions. I simply set it up to work in
my station for my particular applications. And if I need to learn how to make it do
something more, there is always the manual and the very helpful group of folks on
this email reflector.
