[Elecraft] Split operation lost when changing band

[Jan, SM5FQQ]

I noticed when I was jumping between bands chasing K4M that when returning 
to a band where I had split frequency enabled that the split was disabled
and
then by misstake I started to transmit on their transmitting frequency.

How to keep the K3 splitoperation enabled when jumping around between bands
so the split is not disabled?
