[Elecraft] SPLIT mode reset on band change

In the year I have had my K3 I have used it mainly for contesting and hardly ever operated in split mode.  Lately I have been chasing some DX and had more than my usual share of mistakes calling on the transmit frequency of the DX.  I was just shaking my head at my own incompetence until it finally dawned on me that the K3 switches off the "SPLIT" mode every time I change bands.  Can that function be turned off?
