You don't need MIC+LIN for RTTY. Just set "MIC SEL" to "line in" when
in "AFSK A" mode, and to whatever you use for a mic when in SSB modes.
The setting is remembered per-mode.

MIC+LIN is useful for things like SSTV, where you flip back and forth
between audio sources during a single QSO.

When I switched to AM, I had the rear panel mic enabled and the MIC+LIN turned ON. When I turned MIC+LIN OFF the feedback went away. The operation of this menu function wasn't exactly clear to me so I had set it up the way I thought it should be for all modes (SSB, AM, PSK and FSK). I was wrong.
