  Like FSK D, PSK D lets you transmit via FSK IN, ASCII, or the keyer paddle
(pg. 34).
  You can also use auto-spot with PSK D if the tuning aid is displayed (CWT

.. this gives the impression that a 0/1 (open/close) signal on FSK Input
will generate 
   Mark/Space PSK31 signals in the K3. 

It got me on the wrong leg. A bit more explanation in the manual would be
nice.
