You could assign a switch macro that would set the MON level to zero
every time you want to adjust it:
ML000;SWH56;
This sets the level to 0 then turns on MON for adjustment. All you
have to do is twist the knob.
You can also have a switch macro to set the MON level to zero before a
TUNE...
ML000;SWH16;
but then you will manually have to adjust MON back up to your desired
level after the TUNE (for which you can "safely" use the previous
macro or MON).
On a related topic... it would be really great if we could hear live
signals as we adjust PITCH instead of hearing the steady sidetone. It
is the pitch of the signals that we really want to adjust, not the
pitch of the sidetone per se. It would be helpful to be able to hear
the signals as their pitch was being adjusted. Different pitches are
useful under different conditions of QRN and QRM and "live" pitch
adjustement would help in finding the optimal setting.
