[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report for March

Good Evening,
   It was a chilly, wet, and very windy day.  I had to check a couple times whether or not my antennas were still up.  I had to check whether or not the trees were still there!!  Branches were flying by but not very big ones just the kind which are prunings of winter damage.  Friday night was so nice I took a walk at dusk.  I was rewarded with a bunch of critters.  Owls were calling and then a bunch of coyotes.  At that point the sky started whistling and one flight and then a second of very, very fast ducks zipped by.  There was no way to get any markings on these guys they were moving at a high rate of speed.  Guess they had somewhere to go and they were very late ;)  
   Conditions on twenty meters were not as good as last week.  Weak signals and QSB were normal.  Well, except for Pete who blasted in.  He was loud.  If these Elecraft rigs had d'Arsonval meters I'd be unwrapping the needle from the pin right now!  Forty meters was better with more overall coverage of the continent.  The band was also more populated thus the 7045.05 kHz location.  I was between two operators who were working them right and left.  May have been a contest but I did not figure out which one.  Currently it is snowing again.  It was snowing off and on during the nets and between them.  That was interspersed with full sun and clear skies.  Tonight I am to receive another three inches of snow.  Winter is still holding on but I did see Pat's daffodils poking out of the snowy ground about five inches.  In about a month they will be blooming.

   As always if there are any errors please send the corrections to me via email.  I am unsure how I was able to work NS7P on twenty meters.  He should have been too close; there may be a notch in the mountains which lets me work him line of sight.  WS7L is just over the mountain from me so that is not so surprising.  One day the MUF will go higher.  There is a spot growing on the sun if it has not dissipated yet.  We did get a solar stream earlier so there were ions zipping about the Heaviside layer letting the EQPers enjoy their contacts.  I was active for a while but a challenge drew me away.  Engineering puzzles awaken me at all hours and take precedence over anything else.  Like eating, sleeping, etc.  Makes life exciting :)
