[Elecraft] hot glue for toroids

I have found commercial gear that has a toroid holder, a plastic like thing 
the toroid sits in, the wires pass through and wrap around the form, then 
get soldered.
The form has small pins that fit in holes in the circuit board, and the 
toroid is held slightly above board.

I don't think I ever have seen bare toroids glued to a board.
There are all sorts of inductor types in pre made forms of all types, none 
of which anyone could wind at home, for a kit....
