I brought my K2 along to the N1NW FD site and enjoyed operating with the
Radio Amateur Society of Norwich (CT) club. I tried to get a few of the
other operators to try the K2, but had limited takers. One fellow sat
down and tuned around a bit on 40 m, and commented that it sounded too
quiet between signals. I turned off the noise reduction, and told him if
he wanted to hear noise, the K2 could do that. His surprised look, and
the questions from others standing nearby about where all that noise
came from was priceless. I turned the noise reduction on again and they
realized how effective that feature is!
It was very easy to make the "Natural Power" QSOs by running the K2
between 10 and 20 W on a solar charged battery. All things considered,
it was a fun Field Day, and I enjoyed showing off my K2.
