Good Evening,
The sun is sinking toward the horizon and the veeries are making their peculiar call. The ferns are about done unrolling and the fir trees have all gained new growth. The deer have started to graze in the front lawn and a female grouse has taken to roosting above the house. At first I could not figure out the clucking sound. Not quite like a hen but it got me looking. Then when we saw each other she did not flush. In fact she flew closer to look at me.
The hummingbirds allow me to walk on my deck but it seems I must ask permission. Feisty little things. I think I will put up a few more feeders to spread them out a little. As it is they flash their tails at me to show their dominance. OK, but who fills the feeders? However, they have not injured me, yet.
Propagation on twenty meters has been good lately. Today I have been reading about 10 and 6 meters being open. Looks like sporadic E season is in full swing. I have had fun this week working on my code project. Now to figure out the odd tones when it transmits. I'll trace the data from the microcontroller to modem and the modulated sinewave from modem to transmitter. I think it is a ground plane issue but debugging is what makes life interesting ;)

Please join us tomorrow evening.
