[Elecraft] Need a kit recomendation (off topic a little)

While I agree that a regen kit would be a good receiver, remember that 
this is for a 5 year old, and a regen receiver requires 'two handed' 
tuning - one hand on the VFO knob and another on the regen control.  A 5 
year old needs a single control receiver IMHO.
