Jack,
Each time you move the power control, it takes 2 to 3 dots for the power
control circuits to level out to the requested power - TUNE does not do
that like keying (or speech) does, so if I understand what you are
observing, that may be normal - just give it a bit more keying time to
level out the power.
If your operation is mostly at the home station, and you do not operate
QRP portable, then I suggest you put the KPA100 on the K2 and use the
KAT100 in the short enclosure.
OTOH, if you want a QRP K2 that you can quickly pick up and take with
you, then you will want the EC2 KPA100/KAT100 package.
